CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- A year after Wartburg tied for the national championship, the Knights left no doubt in 2026.

Wartburg claimed its 17th NCAA Division III national team title and did so in dominant fashion, winning by 42 points on Saturday night at Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Knights clinched the team title prior to the finals but put the finishing touches on an incredible performance by crowning a pair of national champions on Saturday night.

Wartburg wrestlers Kade Blume (141) and Kasey Ross (184), both ranked No. 2 coming into the NCAAs, won national titles, becoming the 39th and 40th Wartburg wrestlers to capture individual national titles. Seven Knights earned All-America honors.

Blume avenged his only NCAA Division III loss of the season, edging returning national champion Mark Samuel of Roanoke 4-3 in the finals at 141 pounds. Samuel won the previous meeting at the NWCA National Duals in sudden victory.

Ross, a fifth-place finisher at the 2025 NCAAs, shut out top-ranked Ganon Smith of Elizabethtown 5-0 in the finals at 184 pounds, avenging a loss from last year's NCAAs.

UW-La Crosse edged Augsburg for second place, finishing with 68 points, a half-point ahead of the Auggies.

Five UW-La Crosse wrestlers earned All-America honors, led by national champion Tanner Gerber at 165 pounds. He won his national title with a 4-0 shutout over Andrew Supers of Baldwin-Wallace. Gerber, who spent the first two years of his college wrestling career at North Dakota State, was third at the NCAAs a year ago.

Augsburg also finished with five All-Americans but did not have a national finalist.

North Central's Chip Guzman -- ranked No. 1 in The Open Mat's pound-for-pound rankings -- capped off an undefeated campaign with a national title at 125 pounds. He cruised to a 20-3 technical fall in the finals over Coe's Brayden Parke. Guzman, a four-time All-American, had a one-hundred percent bonus rate this season.

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) crowned two national champions, Garrett Totten (133) and Hunter Mays (174). Both entered the NCAAs ranked No. 1 by The Open Mat.

Totten, a sixth-place finisher at the 2025 NCAAs, earned his national title with an 8-1 victory over No. 2 James Day of Wabash. Day defeated Totten at last year's NCAAs but Totten won both meetings this season.

Mays improved on his fifth-place finish a year ago by winning the title at 174 pounds and capping off an undefeated campaign. He topped Luther's Bryce McDonough 8-6 in the finals.

Central's Cade Siebrecht (149) and NYU's Mo Talebi (197) were the only wrestlers ranked outside the top three to win national titles. Both entered the NCAAs ranked No. 7 by The Open Mat.

Siebrecht, a former University of Iowa wrestler, defeated UW Whitewater's Dominik Mallinder 4-1 in the finals at 149 pounds.

Talebi, an Asia U17 silver medalist for Iran and a 3C2A state champion for Mt. San Antonio College, won his national title at 197 pounds with a 10-5 victory over No. 2 Josh Stahl of York. His victory helped NYU finish fourth in the team standings. Four NYU wrestlers earned All-America honors.

RIT's Josh Harkless won the national title at 285 pounds with a 4-1 win over returning national champion Mitch Williamson of Wartburg, avenging a loss from last year's NCAAs. Harkless, a third-place finisher at the 2025 NCAAs, was the only non-Division I college wrestler to place at the Midlands Championships this season.

Peter Kane of Williams College won the national title at 157 pounds and finished his career as a four-time All-American. His finals victory came over Rhenzo Augusto of Elmhurst, 4-1.
